The adventure of the Italian tennis players at the Zhengzhou WTA 500 got off on the right foot. In fact, Jasmine Paolini and Lucia Bronzetti made it through the first round, beating respectively Japanese Moyuka Uchijima, number 182 in the world rankings, and wild card Hanyu Guo, number 435 in the WTA rankings.
6-2 6-3 was the score in favor of the Tuscan tennis player, accrued after an hour and 23 minutes of play. Jasmine immediately started off strong in the first set (2-0) but made up for it by conceding the immediate counter-break (2-2). From here però Paolini threads five consecutive games closing 6-2 and taking the lead in the second set as well. In the fourth game Paolini conquers the decisive break that she consolidates until the final 6-3.
7-5 6-1 è the result with which the Rimini tennis player advances to the round of 16, after an hour and 34 minutes of play. In the first set Lucia loses the serve in the fifth game (2-3) but immediately recovers the break of disadvantage (3-3), and conquers a second one in the twelfth game, archiving the partial for 7-5. With the inertia on her side, Bronzetti flew up 5-0 in the second partial, bringing her positive streak to seven games in a row to then close on 6-1 at the second match-point.
In the round of 16, Paolini will face Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, No. 10 in the ranking, while Bronzetti will face Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur, No. 7 in the ranking.
