Dorian Godon wins the Tour of Veneto
The 27-year-old Frenchman Dorian Godon won the’87ª edition of the Giro del Veneto. On the climb leading to the finish line in Monte Berico, the bearer of the AG2R Citroen Team with a very long sprint beat the Norwegian Tobias Johannessen (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) and the Belgian Florian Vermeersch (Lotto Dstny).
With about fifteen kilometers to go in Tombolo, Stan Dewulf (AG2R Citroën Team), Davide De Cassan (Eolo Kometa), Brent Van Moer (Lotto Dstny), Joey Rosskopf (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team), Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team) and Michael Belleri (Biesse-Carrera) escaped from the peloton.
Belleri and De Cassan broke away on the first pass over the finish line, the other four remained in the lead, but with 4 kilometers to go the peloton è recompacted under the UAE Emirates’ push to favor Swiss Marc Hirschi, then è came Godon’s winning sprint.
