Peter Sagan honors Valentino Rossi
Peter Sagan: "Valentino Rossi inspired me"
Peter Sagan, speaking at the Trento Sports Festival, talked about his long and successful career, which among other achievements has recorded the triple consecutive triumph in the clclism World Championships road race (2015, 2016, 2017, the first and so far only one to succeed three times in a row).
Inevitable is the question about the personalities in the sports world who can inspire such a brilliant career. If in soccer Sagan revealed that he particularly liked Ronaldinho, as far as the world of sports in general is concerned, the name è Italian: "Valentino Rossi, for sure – said the Slovak -. It was always wonderful to see him cheering, among other things in a different and imaginative way every time he won".
The 'Doctor' also inspires Sagan in terms of longevity, and it is no coincidence that the Slovak champion wants to represent his country at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, albeité on a mountain bike and not on a road bike: "It's a youthful passion, I started on a mountain bike and I would like to close the circle".
Sagan, 33, has won more than 120 races in his career: in addition to the three Road World Championships, his successes at the 2016 Tour of Flanders and 2018 Paris-Roubaix deserve mention, as well as 12 stages at the Tour de France (he won the points classification at the Grande Boucle seven times, among other things), four at the Vuelta and two at the Giro d'Italia, where he won the points classification in 2021.
