Logan Sargeant, during qualifying at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, suffered a 10-place grid penalty for overtaking under a yellow flag. Although he was allowed to participate in the race, the driver did not record a valid time due to an earlier lap error and limitations imposed by traffic and yellow flags.
In parallel, Williams was fined 20,000 euros for leaving some equipment in the pit lane, causing an impact with Yuki Tsunoda's AlphaTauri. Sargeant will therefore start from 20th place, behind Tsunoda, who, following the replacement of the powertrain, will be forced to start from the back of the grid.
