Ben Shelton, another knockout after one with Jannik Sinner
Ben Shelton eliminated
Ben Shelton’s participation in the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 ended unexpectedly in the first round with a three-set loss to Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. After a long period of success, including a semifinal at the U.S. Open and victory in the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo, the world number sixteen seems to be experiencing some fatigue. ù
Despite fifteen aces in his favor, Shelton could not contain an excellent Davidovich Fokina, who made the most of the only two break points conceded by the American. In the first set, after a series of service turnovers, the tie-break is won by the Spanish tennis player 7-4. The match went on for two and a half hours, with Shelton coming back in the second set, but having to surrender in the third 6-3.
Ben Shelton last week è was defeated by Jannik Sinner, then winner of the Vienna tournament.
