Jannik Sinner now targets Adriano Panatta

The Toronto triumph allowed Jannik Sinner to improve his best ranking.

The South Tyrolean in one fell swoop gained two positions, taking him to the sixth step of the world rankings. He thus equaled Matteo Berrettini and surpassed Corrado Barazzutti, who finished seventh at best.

In the history of Italian tennis only Adriano Panatta, fourth in 1976, has done better, but Sinner may soon at least match him: Rune and Tsitsipas are not far behind.
