Coppa Italia: Lecce comes back, then hurts itself. Parma exults in the recovery
Coppa Italia, Lecce-Parma 2-4
Parma, the team leading Serie B, eliminates Lecce, a team instead fighting for salvation in A, from the Coppa Italia. The Ducali won 4-2 at the Via del Mare, taking advantage of a skid by the hosts when everything seemed to be leading toward extra time, after the Salentini themselves came back from 0-2 down to 2-2.
Pecchia’s team got off to a strong start and by the half-hour mark it was already ahead 2-0: Simon Sohm scored on 9', whose great shot from the edge left Brancolini no chance, and Ange-Yoan Bonny on 29', with a resounding volley that slotted into the seventh. In between there's the injury, at 20', of referee Minelli, who was replaced by fourth man Feliciani.
Feliciani himself, in the final half, first awarded a penalty for an alleged foul on Piccoli, then overturned his own decision after the on-field-review. Lecce però does not flinch and comes back from halftime fierce: Piccoli ad shortens the distance at 54' taking advantage of an uncertain Corvi, then sees a goal cancelled for offside at 60'. At 76' the equalizer really comes: è Strefezza to score it, with a nice right-footed shot.
When everything seemed to presage the extension of the match to extra time, Lecce hurt itself and allowed Parma to exult: at 94' Pongracic è unlucky in the rebound in front of his own goalkeeper and saw the ball enter his own goal, three minutes later Ramadani landed Bernabé in the box and Dennis Man did not fail from the penalty spot.
Therefore, Parma passes, which will face Fiorentina in the round of 16.
