Billie Jean King Cup: Italy also beats Slovenia and flies to the final

Ten years later, Italy returns to play a final of the top team competition in world tennis, thanks to a 2-0 success, signed by Martina Trevisan and Jasmine Paolini, against Slovenia.

In the first singles match Martina Trevisan beat 7-6(6) 6-3, in two hours and twenty minutes of play, Kaja Juvan, number 104 in the rankings, after canceling a set-point in the tie-break of the first partial.

The decisive point was placed by Jasmine Paolini who overcame in three sets the No. 100 ranking Tamara Zidansek, with the score of 6-2 4-6 6-3, after two hours of play.

At the end of the match, the coach of the Italian women’s team Tathiana Garbin did not hide her satisfaction with the result achieved: "It's a dream started from afar that today comes true. Behind this result there'è a lot of work by the whole team and the Federation. I am so proud of my girls who have done something extraordinary and they should be proud for it. Tomorrow will be another day and we will try to have fun. For me è it really is a great emotion. These players have been able to build their careers over time and they have done it in the best possible way. The final will be very difficult, but we will take the field with the intention of winning".

In the Billie Jean King Cup final, Italy will face the winner of the second semifinal between Canada and the Czech Republic.
