Davis Cup, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego perfect: Italy flies to semifinals

Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego lead Italy into the Davis Cup semifinals. Deciding the match between Italy and the Netherlands è was the doubles won by the Italian pair, who imposed themselves on the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof with the score of 6-3 6-4 after one’hour and twenty-five minutes of play.
In the first set the Dutch were the first to have break ball but Sinner guarded well at the net. In the fourth game Italy has three consecutive break points but the Netherlands saves with serve. In the seventh game Holland back to break ball but Sinner è still careful at the net. The next game è the good one for the Azzurri, who harpooned the break on the advantages with Sonego going for the break. Sinner then serves for the set, closing the score on the final 6-3.
At the beginning of the second set Griekspoor-Koolhof again cancel three break points to Sinner-Sonego. The Azzurri però did not flinch, saved a dangerous break ball on 1-2 and in the seventh game scratched the decisive break on the third useful opportunity, thanks to a Griekspoor error at the net. At 5-4 it was Sinner’s turn to serve for the match, and thanks also to two aces, he filed the case, closing out the second partial 6-4.
Captain Volandri’s boys thus fly to the semifinals (scheduled for Saturday), where they will face the winner of the challenge between Novak Djokovic’s Serbia and Great Britain, deprived of Andy Murray, on the court shortly.
