Federica Brignone pulls away from Sofia Goggia and smiles
The words of Federica Brignone
Federica Brignone spoke at the end of the second Mont Tremblant giant slalom. “This round I’m really proud of myself – says the champion from Valle d’Aosta -. You couldn’t really see anything in the second run, the weather conditions were really difficult and getting worse minute by minute. At that point no one could stay ahead of Direz, between heats I was talking to my brother Davide and we were telling each other that in the’last month we often found these conditions, I had to be ready".
"Soì I came out of the gate with the right anger after the first run, I was convinced and tried to give my best, obviously I had the sun inside me. Courage in these conditions è very important and at the same time be aware of what you are doing and think about how to ski, becauseè you do not see on the ground. You have to work a lot with sensibilityè remember where you are on the slope and even if your body canè get stuck, you have to try to go against the will".
Federica Brignone’s one-two win in the women’s giant slalom in Mont Tremblant allow Italy to touch 122 wins in the history of the women’s Alpine Ski World Cup. The Valle d’Aosta native surpasses Sofia Goggia at the top of the list of all-time Italian winners at 23 triumphs, behind them with Deborah Compagnoni with 16 claims.
