Medvedev’s coach: "Jannik Sinner? How to play against Djokovic"
Daniil Medvedev’s coach Gilles Cervara in an interview with Championat spoke about the exponential growth of Jannik Sinner, who has beaten the Russian tennis player several times in recent months, most recently in Turin in the semifinals of the Atp Finals: "He has come a long way, he has invested a lot in training in recent months, constantly improving something in his game and working incredibly hard".
According to Cervara, Medvedev has a chance to come back and beat him after the last three knockouts in a row: "Daniil just has to play like he did in Turin. He played well, played very aggressive tennis: this è the key to success against the current Jannik. È similar to how you play against Djokovic. You have to be good in all phases, in all shots".
For Cervara Medvedev è currently at the top: "If we talk about consistency, this è his best season. He won two Masters 1000 and several other tournaments. In 2021 he won a Grand Slam, participated in another Grand Final and finished the year as No. 2, that year è he was better. But 2023 è close to 2021 in terms of quality ".
The goal is more Slam finals, maybe against less experienced newcomers: "Daniil has played all his Slam finals against Nadal and Djokovic. I would love to see a Grand Slam final against someone else, for example Carlos or Jannik. I am very interested to know what the result would be in that case".
