Simona Quadarella è silver medal in the 1500 sl

After Lorenzo Mora’s bronze medal in the 100 backstroke and Alberto Razzetti’s two silvers in the 200 medley and 200 butterfly, swimming Italy closes the fourth day of the European Short Course Championships in Otopeni, Romania, with its fourth medal, another silver, won by Simona Quadarella in the challenging 1500 freestyle final.

At the level of the final result, at least for the first two positions, the race replicates the result of the 800 freestyle: in fact, to win the gold è it was, as on that occasion, Anastasia Kirpichnikova, who finished today’s race with a time of 15:20.12, while for the Roman è came again a second place, with the final time of 15:37.05. Closing the podium was the Hungarian Anja Kesely (15:51.34).

For Quadarella è a prestigious result that reinforces an already very important trophy cabinet, which among other trophies includes a gold at the World Championships, eight at the European Championships and two in the continental short-tub events, as well as two victories in the Mediterranean Games, two at the Universiade, one at the Youth Olympic Games and four others equally divided between the World and European junior events.

The European Short Tub Championships in Otopeni are the final event of the 2023 pool season. The year 2024 will present athletes and fans with two very important events, the World Championships in Doha in February (from 2 to 18) and the highly anticipated Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held next summer and will see swimming competitions take place between July 27 and August 4.
