The overtaking of Charles Leclerc

In the current scene of Formula 1, characterized by the decrease of overtaking and the reduction of overtaking chances, the Las Vegas circuit was an exception with as many as 99 overtakes during the last race, the highest number since the year 2016 on a dry track.

This exceptional race provided an unprecedented spectacle, with one of the most daring and spectacular overtakes ever seen: Charles Leclerc stunned everyone with a breathtaking maneuver that allowed him to overtake Sergio Perez on the last lap on the Strip.

The enthusiasm of Formula 1 fans è was such that they chose this overtaking as the most beautiful of the year 2023. The event è was captured in a video that quickly won over the world public. È should also mention the other nominees, all noteworthy for their skills and courage. However, the incredible overtaking of Charles Leclerc will forever remain etched in the memory of every Formula 1 fan.

The skillful maneuver with which Leclerc overtook Perez knocked out seven other authoritative candidates: three from Fernando Alonso’s repertoire (those accomplished in Bahrain and Canada against Lewis Hamilton, as well as the one that occurred in Azerbaijan on Carlos Sainz), one respectively from Kevin Magnussen (against Logan Sargeant in Monte-Carlo), Perez himself (on Oscar Piastri in Hungary) and Lando Norris (against George Russell in Mexico). Despite the thickness of his opponents, Leclerc had as many as two arrows to his bow, as the nominations included a spectacular overtaking of Russell on the outside of the first corner at Suzuka.
