Salernitana, Walter Sabatini returns
Salernitana welcomes back Walter Sabatini
Twenty-four hours after the tough defeat at home to Atalanta (4-1 for the Orobici, who were able to overturn Pirola’s initial goal), the Salernitana management tries to shake up the environment and announces the return of Walter Sabatini, one of the key men in the long salvation comeback two seasons ago. Waiting for the executive born in 1955 is the role of general manager of the company.
"U.S. Salernitana 1919 è is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. Walter Sabatini as general manager of the company,” reads a note released by the club on Tuesday, “an icon of the soccer world, an experienced manager and a key man in the historic salvation of the Granata in the 21/22" season.
"His enthusiasm, vitalityà and will to win as well as an all-round competence will distinguish his work – the Campania-based granata club, currently last in Serie A after 16 matches, with only 8 points to its credit and five lengths of gap from the salvation zone, still says. Director Sabatini will reach Salerno in the coming hours to begin his work immediately".
It's the second drastic decision that President Danilo Iervolino has taken in the space of two months, in an attempt to revitalize an environment so far incapable of replicating last season's good performance, which ended with a relatively quiet salvation: at the beginning of October, he replaced Paulo Sousa with Filippo Inzaghi on the bench, now the choice to put himself back in Sabatini's hands, especially as far as the corrections to be made to the squad in view of the January market are concerned.
