Dominik Paris leads the charge of the 10 Azzurri in Bormio
Ten have been summoned by technical director Massimo Carca for the men’s World Cup sprint double event scheduled on the legendary Stelvio slope in Bormio. They are Dominik Paris, Christof Innerhofer, Florian Schieder, Mattia Casse, Nicolò Molteni, Benjamin Alliod, Pietro Zazzi, Giovanni Franzoni, Giovanni Borsotti and Guglielmo Bosca.
The program features a downhill on Thursday, Dec. 28 (11:30 a.m. with live TV coverage on Rai Due and Eurosport), followed the next day by a supergiant (also at 11:30 a.m.). As a reminder, Italy can field up to eight athletes in the downhill and nine in the super-giant (eight + Schieder who has the fixed place).
Stelvio evokes sweet memories for our skiers: Paris è won on seven occasions, including six in downhill (2012, 2017, 2018, 2019 for two days in a row and 2021) and one in super-giant (2018), while Innerhofer triumphed in 2008 in downhill, è finished second in 2018 in downhill and third in downhill in 2010. Finally, Peter Fill was second in downhill in 2006, as well as Kristian Ghedina was third in downhill in 1996, Peter Runggaldier second and Werner Perathoner third in super-giant in 1995.
