From May 16 to 18, the GP dell’Emilia Romagna will be staged. The 2025 edition could also be the’last for the glorious Imola circuit. Formula 1 is moving toward more and more massive expansion and the’idea of having a country, Italy, with two GPs (Monza and Imola) is becoming more and more complicated.

L’confirmed the same President of Formula 1 Domenicali to The Politics of Ball: “It will be increasingly difficult to have two GPs in the same country. I have to exercise an international role that confronts me with so many requests around the world from emerging countries that can allow F1 to grow”.

Statements that put at great risk the continuation of the relationship with Imola. The one that will be staged May 16-18 will be the sixth GP of Emilia Romagna, the fifth that has actually been held (the 2023 edition was canceled due to the notorious flooding in the region).

The very recovery of that’edition is a key point in discussions with the FIA. Imola is expected to be recovered in 2026 but, at the moment, there would still be no certainty to that effect. With Monza strong on a renewal until 2031, Imola&#8217s position is becoming less and less strong. The future of the GP dell’Emilia Romagna is at great risk.
