Jannik Sinner, Simone Vagnozzi explains the breakthrough
Jannik Sinner’s 2023 season finale will forever remain in the memories of Italian tennis fans, who see it as a decisive turning point towards more grand goals. Simone Vagnozzi, speaking with 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', tried to define the key moments that led the Italian champion to rise even further.
"Where was the qualitative leap? I would say in Beijing,” Vagnozzi sentenced.
" è he was able to beat Alcaraz and Medvedev one after another and that gave him a great boost and motivation. I saw him matured. The match points canceled for Djokovic in the Davis Cup? These are things that only great players can do. Keeping your composure at one point from losing against the strongest of them all, turning it around and winning is not è something you learn. You either have it in you or you don't, AND Jannik has it in him".
"I am not surprised at what we è seen in the last few months,” Sinner’s coach later said, “We have worked a lot and there è has been cooperation from everyone, first and foremost from the player who è always the first to want to commit and work. Plus, he's a wonderful guy and with the group there's really a lot of dialogue and harmony. Which does not mean that there are not exchanges of views, but we all row in the same direction".
Jannik Sinner will also try to make a name for himself in 2024 in the first Slam of the season, in Australia: he boasts four appearances in Melbourne, with his best result being the quarterfinals of the 2022 edition, in which he succumbed in three sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas. In 2023 again the Greek had been his executioner, this time in five hard-fought sets.
