Paola Egonu, high-stakes challenge with Vita Akimova

Second consecutive big match for Allianz Allianz Vero Volley Milano in the seventh day of the return round of Serie A1 Tigotà. The Consortium’s women’s flagship team, in fact, will host  tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 10, at 9 p.m. (live Volleyballworld.tv and Rai Sport) Igor Gorgonzola Novara at the Allianz Cloud.

After last Sunday’s defeat at Pala Verde, against Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano, the Consortium’s first pink team aims to resume the interrupted path, which saw Gaspari’s girls unbeaten for thirteen matches.

Orro and her teammates will therefore try to continue to increase the gap in the standings on the pursuers, in a confrontation certainly all to be experienced between two teams at the highest levels of the standings. Character, tenacity and determination: these are the winning characteristics of Vero Volleyball. The goal of the meneghine è then to find the smile, knowing that winning would allow to approach with greater confidence even the Final Four of the Italian Cup Frecciarossa, scheduled in Trieste on the weekend of February 17.

As for the Milanese, Vero Volleyball will reunite with slappers Bujis and Orthmann, as well as central Danesi, seen with the Consortium’s first team jersey from 2019 to 2022. Novara, on the other hand, will be able to re-embrace Egonu, Candi and Daalderop.

A high-stakes challenge also in the "best spikers" ranking, led by Paola Egonu, with 401 points, and tailed precisely by Novara’s Russian Akimova with 372 ground balls.

"Match that comes after a difficult match where we did not maintain an adequate level of play and comes before a delicate Final Four – stressed coach Marco Gaspari -. For our part it will be important to reset the performance against Conegliano by treasuring the mistakes made and putting in a level performance" with Novara.
