World Biathlon Championships, Lisa Vittozzi unlocks the blue medal table (and doesn’t want to stop)
Lisa Vittozzi silver in the pursuit race
It came on Sunday afternoon the first Italian medal at the Biathlon World Championships being held in Nove Mesto na Morave, Czech Republic: it was won by Lisa Vittozzi, who was able to win the silver medal in the pursuit race thanks to her second place behind France’s Julia Simon. Third was another transalpine athlete, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet.
Much more backward the other Italians: in fact, Dorothea Wierer finished 21st with 4 errors and 3’34″5 delay, while Samuela Comola è came 23rd with an error and a delay of 3’41″9. 34th place for Michela Carrara, with 5 errors and a 4’47″3 delay. In the post race, Vittozzi expressed all her satisfaction, promising not to stop here.
"Today I am really satisfied with what I did, for me è it was a perfect race – are the words of the Carabinieri athlete collected by the official channels of Fisi -. The French were two in front, both very strong. I tried to keep very strong mentally, I did not want to waste energy in the first part, because I wanted to keep myself for the final".
"I managed my energies the best I could, but I didn't want to get beaten today,‖ added the Italian. It's a medal that gives me a lot of confidence: I came here not knowing what to expect because I had been suffering from back pain. Now I know that when I am well I can play for medals and I will do so in the next competitions".
