World Championships Doha, Italy silver in men’s 4×100 freestyle

Silver medal for Italy in the 4×100 freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Doha: Alessandro Miressi, Lorenzo Zazzeri, Paolo Conte Bonin and Manuel Frigo finished second in the final won by China.

The first Chinese fractionalist, Zhanie Pan, set a new world record in the 100 sl with a time of 46”80. From that point on, China held the top position at all times, finishing in 3'11''08, while Italy posted 3'12''08 and the United States 3'12''29.

In the women’s relay counterpart, the Italian women finished fifth in the final, less brilliant than in the previous round (3'38″67). The gold è was won by the Netherlands, which, with a time of 3'36″61, preceded Australia, silver, and Canada, bronze.
