Uefa reform, Italy could have eleven teams in European cups

With the reform of Uefa competitions starting from the upcoming 2024-2025 season, up to eleven teams from the same country will be able to play in European cups, including as many as seven clubs from the same country in the Champions League. È this emerged during a Uefa media briefing in Milan on cup reform.

In particular, looking at Serie A, the top four finishers in the league, the fifth-placed team if Italy finishes among the best two in the season rankings and the eventual winners of the Champions and Europa League should they finish outside the positions for the cups in the league could play in the next expanded Champions.

These could be joined by three teams qualified for the Europa League – the sixth-ranked team in the league, the winner of the Italian Cup and the eventual winner of the Conference League out of the European league placings – and one team qualified in the Conference League through the league, for a total then of eleven teams.
