New rising star puts Jannik Sinner in his sights
Joao Fonseca è one of the new rising stars of world tennis: at 17 years old, the Brazilian tennis player stole the eye in the Rio de Janeiro tournament, making it all the way to the quarterfinals of the Atp 500 after beating already established athletes such as Garin and Fils and drawing applause, so much so that many have compared him to Jannik Sinner for the strength and quality of his shots.
At Uol, the young up-and-comer also spoke about the blue tennis player, confessing that he follows him: "When I was a kid, I didn’t miss any Federer match. My mother è a big fan of Roger. Now I like to watch the matches of Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz".
"It's impressive how strong they are mentally and how they can compete against rivals of Novak Djokovic's caliber. I pay close attention to everything they do on and off the court. È it was great to share time with them in Turin last year"” continued Fonseca.
His goals are clear, and soon he could become a dangerous obstacle for Sinner: "My big dream è to be No. 1 in the world and win a Slam. Wimbledon è my favorite Major. The road è is long and requires work. I stay with my feet on the ground because è è the way dreams become reality ".
