Women's Italy overwhelmed by England in friendly
Italy was overwhelmed 5-1 by England in the friendly match played in Algeciras, Spain. The reigning European champions put the Azzurri, who were coming off a 0-0 draw with Ireland, under from the start, scoring after one minute through Wubben-Moy.
A double by Manchester City striker Lauren Hemp (21' and 34') widened the gap before Michela Cambiaghi’s counterattack goal in the first half recovery.
The British in the second half again stretched, with goals by Ella Ann Toone at 19' and Rachel Daly at 34'.
Having finished the double friendly engagement that opened 2024, now the national team led by Andrea Soncin will have to start facing the Euro 2025 qualifiers from April.
