Tadej Pogacar always makes a strong start

È Tadej Pogacar’s record is crazy. For the fifth time in a row, the Slovenian star won in his season debut. He had already succeeded at the 2020 Volta Valenciana, the 2021 and 2022 UAE Tour, and the 2023 Vuelta Andalucia: the UAE Team Emirates rider repeated himself Saturday at the Strade Bianche.

With an 81-kilometer solo breakaway, Tadej Pogacar broke his own record for the longest solo victory in this race: in '22 he won after a 49-kilometer breakaway. Last year, Tom Pidcock won after a 23-kilometer solo breakaway. The last race the Slovenian took part in – and won – was Il Lombardia last October won with 52" over Andrea Bagioli.

Pogacar won the 2024 Strade Bianche with 2'44" over Toms Skujins: è the widest margin in the history of the race. The previous record was the 42" between Fabian Cancellara and Maxim Iglinskiy in the’edition staged in 2012.
