Erling Haaland, future at Manchester City not a foregone conclusion
Erling Haaland sibylline about his future
Protagonist, together with Pep Guardiola, of the press conference presenting Manchester City-FC Copenhagen of the Champions League (gone 3-1 to the Mancunians), Erling Haaland also answered a question regarding his future, without assuming that his name will forever be linked, from here on out, to the Citizens’ scorecards.
Haaland admits he is not thinking about renewal
"I am really happy with the environment that surrounds me,” the Norwegian told reporters, “from the coach to the managers are all great people, who help me to be well. The future? I know I am about to make a headline joke, but I say it anyway: you canò never really know what will happen. Clearly the premise I made, which isè that I am happy" here, applies.
Haaland's thoughts aren't directed toward the extension of the current deal with City, which will expire in 2027. "I am mainly focused on the field,” he said. “There are a lot of games to play: two days ago there was the Manchester derby, now the Champions League, on Sunday we have Liverpool. I don’t think it’s time to think about anything else".
The missed chance under goal in the derby: Haaland explains
In the Manchester derby, Haaland caused a stir by failing to score a goal from very close range, a mistake that did not affect the final result (3-1 for his team) but è was the subject of even ruthless comments, especially online: "People say I am a great finisher, but I wasted the greatest opportunity in the world the day before yesterday – admitted the striker. I can do much better".
Mistakes under the goal aside, Haaland still remains one of the most prolific strikers of his generation: "It's a challenge with myself that è began as a boy, I remember starting to cry if my team lost and I would fail to materialize goal actions. I worked on it and continue to do so, the challenge è this".
