Camila Giorgi on velvet in Indian Wells: Katie Boulter falls in two sets
A beautiful and clear victory, against an absolutely level opponent.
Camila Giorgi in Indian Wells starts as well as it could not. In fact, the Marche player passes the first round unscathed, thanks to a clear 2-0 win against the British Katie Boulter (who in the WTA circuit è is currently number 27 in the world, with the Italian only 106th). The contest between the two on California cement lasted just one hour and 18 minutes and ended on a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Giorgi starts the match in the best possible way, taking the first two games complete with break conceding only two points to her opponent. Boulter recovered soon after with an immediate counterbreak, but conceded her service to her opponent already in the fourth game. At 3-1, the Marche player only needed to control operations to take home the set despite an untaken first chance at 5-2.
It goes even better in the next set, which turns out to be the decisive one. In fact, Camila Giorgi opens it with another break, the first of two that allow her to fly to 4-0. Operations slow down in the following games, where however there is never a feeling of a match that can be reopened. And in this way Indian Wells continues for the Italian player with another uncomfortable challenge: the one against Linda Noskova that puts up for grabs the landing to the sixteenth finals.
