Indian Wells: Lorenzo Sonego stops in second round, passes Cameron Norrie
Indian Wells: Cameron Norrie-Lorenzo Sonego 6-4 6-4
Lorenzo Sonego's adventure at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 ended in the second round. The Italian è was defeated by Britain's Cameron Norrie in two sets with a score of 6-4 6-4 after more than an hour and a half of play. The Piedmontese tennis player, despite the eight aces he put up, paid for his poor winning percentage with his second serve.
The match immediately went uphill for Sonego, who conceded three consecutive break points to his opponent in the third game. Norrie, for his part, does not let the opportunity slip away and on the second attempt places the break. In the sixth game, the Italian has a chance to break even again, but he fails to materialize. From that moment the English player does not leave any more chances to his rival and ends the first partial on 6-4.
In the second set, however, the Italian starts better and immediately manages to break serve and take a 2-0 lead. However, Norrie doesn't lose concentration and first he recovers the break, also aided by some errors by Sonego, then he snatches two more times the serve from the Piedmontese taking the lead to 5-2. The Turin native managed to shorten the distance to 5-4, but the Briton still closed the accounts in the tenth game, detaching the pass for the third round.
