Milan, Pulisic is enough: Empoli beaten 1-0 at San Siro
A difficult and important victory to send a clear message to Juventus.
Milan were unspectacular but effective against Empoli, beaten 1-0 at the San Siro in a match of no small weight for the Rossoneri. While waiting for Juventus, engaged against the always hostile Atalanta, Stefano Pioli’s team in fact takes away the satisfaction of taking back, at least for a few hours, the arithmetic second place in Serie A behind the cousins of Inter.
Milan tries to secure the game thanks to a good start, in which è especially Okafor to show inspiration. Empoli però not just watching, and appeared in attack with Cambiaghi, Niang and Gyasi. The most crystal clear chances are forò of the Rossoneri brand: the guest defense closes on the usual Okafor, then Pulisic, Hernandez and Loftus-Cheek try. The goal è in the air, and it arrives at 41': it is signed by Pulisic, who kicks on the volley on Okafor’s service and beats Caprile also thanks to a deflection by Luperto.
Having taken the lead, Milan in the second half fails to sink and close the game once and for all. On the contrary: first it trembles on a conclusion by Cambiaghi, then on an initiative by Bereszynski who takes advantage of a mistake by the Rossoneri defense. Instead, Chukwueze and Loftus-Cheek (on the latter è careful Caprile) look for the double. Calabria also tried a header, then in the final the former Destro hit the post. Everything was però stopped for offside.
