Tirreno-Adriatico to Vingegaard, last stage in Milan: "Special victory"
Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma/Lease a Bike) won the 59th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico Crédit Agricole. Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) and Jai Hindley (Bora – Hansgrohe) placed second and third respectively in the general classification, more than a second behind the Danish champion, who dominated the Race of Two Seas winning two stages.
Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) won the final stage, 154 km with start and finish in San Benedetto del Tronto. In second and third place were Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X Mobility) and Davide Cimolai (Movistar Team), respectively.
The winner of the final stage expressed his satisfaction after the finish: "This victory è special becauseé è it was a hard and difficult day. Simone Consonni and the rest of the team did a great job for me, I am happy to have taken my second win at Tirreno-Adriatico. È it was very difficult to go and catch the Uno-X rider [Soren Waerenskjold] in the last kilometer. But really; the stage è was tough from the start and that's also what made it the fastest stage ever in the history of the race".
