Jannik Sinner also beats Ben Shelton in Indian Wells
Sinner beats Shelton
As was after all widely predictable Ben Shelton è for large stretches proved to be a tough nut for Jannik Sinner. Who però once again, threw his heart over the obstacle and – after suffering in the first set – won, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells tournament.
7-6, 6-1 was the score for the South Tyrolean, who showed steely nerves in the first fraction: to begin with, he nullified four break points in the fourth game. Then, after snatching the service from his rival, he was able to repel the U.S.’s comeback, which, after canceling a set point, took him to the tie break. Even in the tie–break, when he was down 1-4, Shelton was able to rise again, only to concede.
In the second set Jannik è got off to a trumpet start and for his opponent there was nothing for him to do: è he immediately went into trouble and did not recover. For Jannik Sinner it è was the 18th consecutive victory. He has lost only two matches out of the last thirty-seven played: one to Novak Djokovic, who in Indian Wells è was eliminated by Luca Nardi, and one just to Shelton, in Shanghai.
