Dream comeback for Mikaela Shiffrin. The American skier, after her serious injury during the downhill in Cortina, closed her season in a big way by hitting the slalom in Saalbach, achieving her 97th career World Cup victory. The 29-year-old American finished the event in 1:53.22, ahead of Norway’s Mina Fuerst Holtmann and Sweden’s Anna Swenn-Larsson. Completing the top 5 were Neja Dvornik and Katharina Huber.
In sixth place is Katharina Liensberger of Austria, who finished ahead of Canadian Ali Nullmayer and Camille Rast of Switzerland. She finished with an excellent ninth place Martina Peterlini, who recovered an impressive nine positions in the second run and achieved her second best career top 10 finish in the World Cup. Closing out the top 10 was Swiss Michelle Gisin.
Thanks to this success, Shiffrin è moved back to second place in the overall World Cup standings with 1409 points with a 37-point lead over Federica Brignone and a 245-point gap to leader Lara Gut-Behrami.
