Roma starts the race again: Lorenzo Pellegrini takes down Sassuolo
A success that is worth the temporary fifth place in the solo standings.
Roma again unstoppable, after the draw on the field of Fiorentina that had only temporarily slowed it down. In fact, Daniele De Rossi’s Giallorossi returned to winning ways and did so against Sassuolo: a 1-0 signed by captain Lorenzo Pellegrini was enough to win three points that temporarily put them in fifth place in the standings, which at the end of the season could even guarantee qualification for the Champions League.
Roma seemed to start the match in the best way: already in the first five minutes it was El Shaarawy and then Lukaku who made themselves dangerous. Sassuolo però reacts and responds with Matheus Henrique, Laurentiè and Obiang who create some headaches in the Giallorossi half of the field. For De Rossi, the bad news increased after the half-hour mark, when Spinazzola had to surrender an injury: problems with the flexor in his right thigh for him.
Already in the end of the half comes a first real ringing, signed Lukaku, in the opening of the resumption then here is the match-winning goal: Pellegrini scores it at 50', with a splendid personal action started from the left and ended with a shot that goes in at the second post. Sassuolo's reaction to the former's goal was real but not very orderly (Laurentiè inaccurate in particular). Lukaku and Cristante miss the double, then è Svilar to save everything on Racic. In the final Lukaku and Baldanzi are very dangerous, but Roma trembles most of all: Bajrami tries, Llorente arrives first on the ball but deflects it on the post of the Giallorossi goal. Great risk for the hosts, but the result does not change anymore.
