Andrea Trinchieri highlights Virtus Bologna’s defensive qualities and makes a comparison … rossonero
Martedì the challenge between Trinchieri’s Zalgiris and Virtus
On the eve of the Euroleague challenge between Zalgiris Kaunas and Virtus Bologna, the coach of the Lithuanian club, Milan’s Andera Trinchieri, confirms that he expects a very tough game for his team, which is back in the European arena from three consecutive defeats that have complicated not a little the race to the top ten positions.
In particular, it is the defensive qualities of the Black Vu's that worry Trinchieri, so much so that in a press conference the 1968-born coach drew comparisons with two legends of the defensive department of Milan, his favorite soccer team: "Hackett, Pajola and Cordinier,” he said, “are some of the best defenders on the ball. It's a bit like when Milan had Maldini and Nesta" in defense.
"Like them,” Trinchieri explained, “they don't need help because they're doing fine on their own, they're very aggressive on the passing lines". Hackett and Cordinier will actually not be in the game because they are unavailable, but Trinchieri still wants maximum attention against coach Luca Banchi’s defensive system: "For our offense it will be a great challenge against them, we will have to find the right rhythm" he said.
Not that Virtus's offense doesn't create thoughts for the former Bayern coach: "They have Shengelia and Belinelli, they are very experienced but they are having a great season and play top-notch basketball. To win and make our supporters proud, we will have to give all our energy" said Andrea Trinchieri again.
