Jannik Sinner picks up the umbrella again.
It’s raining in Florida
Jannik Sinner picks up the umbrella again. This time not to shelter sé himself and the now-famous Indian Wells ball boy. It is raining in Miami, and so will start late in the highly anticipated derby that will pit the South Tyrolean and Andrea Vavassori against each other.
The debut of the third seed in the seeding, already a semifinalist in Indian Wells, will take place against compatriot Vavassori, who, although he specializes in doubles, is also saying his piece in singles where he made it through the qualifiers and defeated Argentine Pedro Cachin in two sets in the first round (6-2 6-2). This will be the first official meeting between the No. 3 and No. 148 in the ATP rankings, although the two know each other well and an interesting match is expected.
Should Sinner get past Vavassori, his path could encounter such heavyweight opponents as Tommy Paul, Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev, the defending champion, who defeated the South Tyrolean himself in the final, in the last edition of the Miami Open.
