Federica Brignone doesn’t want to set limits

On the sidelines of the downhill in Saalbach, Austria, where she finished ninth in the race won by host Cornelia Huetter, Federica Brignone è aware that she has sent a season of the highest level into the archives, contributing to the cause of Italian skiing with six victories, five second places and two placings on the lowest step of the podium.

"An incredible season"

"For me è it was an incredible season,” she told the microphones of 'Rai Sport' -, I started off by saying that I had already achieved very important goals and I had not set myself any goals: I surprised myself by getting great results and only when I put some pressure on myself did I have a drop. Then when I started skiing again for the pleasure of it, I was back on the podium".

No regrets, then, for an overall Cup that escaped by just 135 points: "The fault è only mine – said the Valle d’Aosta woman -, Lara (Gut-Behrami, ed.) è was very good, she only made a mistake this weekend but by now the overall World Cup was hers. And then you cannotò think of winning by hoping for the mistakes of others. Honor to her".

"Retirement? Sheò will tell; when the time"

.

"In terms of points this è my best season ever – added Brignone, who won the overall CdM in 2020, scoring forò 1,378 points in the standings as opposed to 1,581 this year -. I did not win any Cups, but the satisfaction è a lot, è incredible even just to have come close to 1,600 points".

Inevitable the question about future goals: "We are looking day by day – assured the blue champion -. I have not given myself an ultimatum for anything, not even at the level of competitions to face. I do not even think anymore about the moment when I will stop: I will tell you when the time comes, certainly not è today. And then there'è still to finish this season, we have finished the World Cup year but until the beginning of May will still be busy".
