Enea Bastianini returns to the pole nearly two years later
Enea Bastianini took pole position at the Grand Prix of Portugal, MotoGp class. The Ducati factory team rider pushed his Desmosedici GP24 to a best lap of Q2 in 1:37.706, putting behind Maverick Viñales, second on his Aprilia by 82 thousandths, and Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac) by 106 thousandths.
The 26-year-old from Romagna, speaking to 'Sky Sport', calculated together with reporters the number of days that have passed from the previous pole position to the one obtained today: "581 days… I did not think it was soì many!" said smiling 'Beast' who did not start ahead of everyone since the Grand Prix of Austria 2022, when he was still racing for Gresini Racing.
"I was confident after setting the best time yesterday – added Bastianini – I was convinced that in the time attack we could do well and I proved it today. Now forò there&39;è to think alreadyà the Sprint race, will have toò give one hundred percent in all twelve laps and I am convinced I can do it. The new bike gives me confidence, I feel good: we have to concretize the work".
Behind the front row composed of Bastianini, Viñales and Martin will start, from fourth to sixth place in qualifying order, Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati), Jack Miller (KTM) and Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46). Eighth place for Marc Marquez, whose qualifying performance è was also affected by a fall in the early stages of Q2, without any particular physical consequences.
