Ferrari, Charles Leclerc settles: message to Carlos Sainz
Charles Leclerc commented on Ferrari’s stunning one-two finish in Melbourne, Australia. The Monegasque driver è had to settle for second position, behind the incredible Carlos Sainz. Leclerc analyzed his race this way: "The feeling didn’t è return exactly like Friday when I was very comfortable with the car".
"The stint in which we struggled è was the first one with the hard tires and with the Safety Car that gave me some graining, and from there; I could not recover the tire. The third stint was good, but overall the race was not è good enough to catch up with Carlos, who had an outstanding race".
“I would have had a hard time catching up with Carlos,” Leclerc admitted, “partly because we had two different strategies, so you’ll believe it until the last. Even at the’last stint I told myself that I could have done it, for’whether Carlos or I win for the team è it’s the same and’s a great day, because’the one-two finish è the best possible result".
Leclerc però keeps the tones low despite the clear victory against Red Bull: "È bad to say this on a day when we are all happy, but we have to keep our feet on the ground. We had a race in which we were very strong, but we mustn’t forget that on lap 4 there’s no more Max, who usually è the reference point in the race. However, we have to’be satisfied with what we did and keep working. We know that we are still not at the level of Red Bull in the race, but we also know that we are the team that è improved the most in the last six months".
"I was not in great shape eitheré yesterday or today – continued Leclerc – forò with the second place and the fast lap we got the points we wanted. Carlos did a great job and I am happy for the team with this one-two: è what we have to try to do until the end of the season. If we look at the first three races there wasn’t one where we said ‘We could have done better’, becauseé we maximized everything we had in the car, and we have to continue like thisì".
