Miami, Jasmine Paolini collapses in the final: Emma Navarro advances
A bitter elimination comes in three sets.
Jasmine Paolini leaves the Miami Open in the round of 16, defeated by Emma Navarro in three sets. Open challenge in the first two, then comes the collapse of the Italian, as can be clearly understood by the final score: 6-2, 3-6, 6-0. The U.S., number 20 on the WTA circuit, imposes herself in just under two hours and closes the accounts in half an hour in the deciding set.
The first set took Navarro’s direction as early as the third game, in which came the break against Paolini. The Italian also loses her serve in the seventh game, this time with only one point to her credit, but manages to raise her head again in the second set: moreover in a comeback. The first break è again of the opponent and worth the momentary 2-1, immediate the response of the azurra who keeps her service also on 3-2 and the decisive 6-3: all the other games of the set are consumed instead with as many breaks.
The challenge thus seems extremely hard-fought and played on equal terms by the two opponents. Everything changes però in the third, decisive set: Jasmine Paolini does not exploit a break point in the first game, two in the third. Navarro, on the other hand, makes a run and on the fourth attempt closes the score, leaving the 28-year-old from Tuscany with a 6-0 lead.
