Double blow for Nelly Korda
Nelly Korda won the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship in California, thus returning to No. 1 in the world in women’s golf. The event was held at Palos Verdes Estates (Los Angeles), where the 25-year-old from Bradenton, Florida, beat Ryann O'Toole on the first hole of the play-off, after both finished the 72 regulation holes of the tournament with a score of 275 strokes, or -9 under par.
For Nelly it è was the 10th triumph in her professional career, including a victory in a Major, the Women's PGA Championship in 2021. This è also her second success in 2024, following the one she achieved in January in the Drive On Championship.
The daughter of former tennis player Petr expressed her happiness with the return to the top of women’s golf, especially after a difficult period. With her victory in the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, she earned $300,000, part of a total prize pool of 2 million greenbacks.
At Palos Verdes Golf Club, with a par of 71, the tournament è was instead disappointing for Italy's Roberta Liti, who è was eliminated after the first 36 holes with a score of 152 strokes (+11)
