Nicol Delago won the Italian overall downhill title in the race that opened the Italian Overall Championships in Val Sarentino, in the province of Bolzano. Two days after standing on the third step of the podium in the downhill at the World Cup finals in Saalbach, the 28-year-old Gardena-Gröden native of the Fiamme Gialle captured the third overall Italian title of her career at the end of the South Tyrol event, which she won with a time of 1’05″69. This was her first success in downhill at the Italian Absolute Championships: in 2018 and 2022 she had been tricolor champion in super-G.

On the tricolor podium also find place the Trentino-born Laura Pirovano (Fiamme Gialle), detached by 0″14, and her younger sister Nadia Delago (0″21, Fiamme Oro). Behind them, fourth and fifth times of the day for the two Austrians Franziska Gritsch and Ricarda Haaser, with Sara Thaler (Cs Carabinieri) eighth at 0″72 to make her Italian youth title her own ahead of Aurora Zavartelli (G.B. Ski Club) and Matilde Lorenzi (Cs Esercito), 11th and 14th respectively.

The test that opened the tricolor review è also valid for the Gran Premio Italia Giovani Dicoflor, a circuit dedicated to athletes not included in the national teams. The stage success è went to Zavartelli, followed by Camilla Vanni – 18th overall and best among aspirants – and Rita Granruaz, 21st and second under 18; the aspirants podium è was then completed by Ivy Schölzhorn, 34th. On Tuesday, March 26 in Val Sarentino è the women’s super-G of the Italian championships is scheduled, followed by the slalom heat that will award the Alpine combined titles.
