Paola Egonu, it’s time for the scudetto playoffs.
The highlight of the season è has arrived for Allianz Vero Volley Milan, led by coach Marco Gaspari, ready to take the court on Wednesday, March 27, at 8 p.m.30 (live broadcast on Rai Play and volleyballworld.tv), at the Allianz Cloud, where it faces Wash4Green Pinerolo in Game 1 of the quarterfinals of the Play Off Scudetto Serie A1 Tigotà 2023/24.
Ending the regular season in third place for the third consecutive year, Milan aims to regain continuityà in the championship in this first series. The recent convincing and decisive victories against Cuneo and Florence, despite the ko suffered by Vallefoglia in the last match, have projected Orro and her teammates into the post season with renewed optimism and confidence, determined to handle the first of two matches with the Piedmontese teams (the second match è scheduled in Pinerolo on Sunday, March 31 at 5 pm.00), to avoid a potential Game 3, which would be played again in Milan thanks to the better position obtained by Vero Volleyball in the regular season.
Milan and Pinerolo have faced each other twice this season, with two wins out of two for the Milanese team (3-0 at home and a tie-break victory in Piedmont). For Vero Volleyball this is the seventh participation in a row at the final stage of the season, excluding the 19/20 season interrupted due to Covid, with the best result achieved both in 21/22 and the previous season, reaching the tricolor Final against Conegliano.
Statistically, Milan can certainly rely on Paola Egonu, the "best forward" of the regular season with 545 points scored, surpassing Scandicci’s Antropova (498 points) and Rome’s Bici (491 points). The Venetian opposite è also among the best in serving, second with 40 aces, behind only Antropova with 60 winning serves. In terms of reception to lead the ranking è the Dominican libero Brenda Castillo, with 48.78% perfect receptions.
"The Playoffs begin, which is a new championship in which everything done so far è has only been for positioning in the grid for the post-season,& stressed coach Marco Gaspari to the club’s official channels. We are all starting from scratch. Pinerolo will play these games with a clear mind; they had an over-the-top season, starting with the idea of trying to do better than last year and came in sixth. They did very well in the continuity of a regular season. Our goal è to start this journey in the best possible way, we will try to recover a little bit the players who are injured and on Wednesday we will need the warmth of our audience to bring home the victory".
