Euro 2024, Uefa considers increasing the roses of participating teams
Uefa is considering a request by some technical commissioners to expand the roster of national teams participating in the European Championships in Germany from 23 to 26 players.
And this will happen soon, the European federation having announced in a statement that it will be discussed at a workshop with the participating teams scheduled for April 8, stressing that "any ideas along these lines will then be considered and evaluated".
The last edition of the tournament, which was to be held in 2020 and was postponed for a year because of Covid, had seen an expansion of the rosters precisely in an attempt to make up for possible defections due to possible contagions.
Now there should be a return to 23, although it remains possible instead to always make five substitutions, another 'innovation' result of the pandemic.
