Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari: Sebastian Vettel did not expect it

During a speech to the Germans of "RTL", former Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel, among other topics, dwelt on his reaction to the official announcement of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari starting in 2025 in place of Carlos Sainz.

"Initially I thought it was fake news. I thought that somehow some kind of denial would come and instead è it was confirmed. Once I realized it was all true I wrote to Lewis and congratulated him" began the'former Red Bull driver.

"I think it was a very difficult decision to make. Of course, I didn't expect it given the connection he had with Mercedes, but I also understand his will" to test himself with something new" continued the four-time world champion.

"In the days after it became official, I talked on the phone with Toto Wolff, but not specifically about taking Lewis’ place, rather about the fact that a lot of things are happening in Mercedes" added the former Ferrari driver.

In conclusion, Sebastian Vettel è dwelt on the market rumors related to a possible farewell of Max Verstappen to Red Bull as a consequence related to the situation of Christian Horner: "Obviously at the moment there's a lot of chaos on the issue, but from a purely sporting point of view I see no reason to think that Max might decide to take alternative paths other than Red Bull".
