It will be between Russian defending Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina and U.S. Danielle Collins in the women’s singles final of the Miami Open. Rybakina, world No. 4, beat Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, former No. 1 and currently No. 32, in three sets with a score of 6-4 0-6 7-6. For the 24-year-old Russian-Azarenka è it was the fifth final in a WTA 1000 and she will go on the hunt for her third win, her eighth overall in a major circuit tournament.
Collins, on the other hand, world number 53 but a real loose cannon on concrete courts since she reached the final at the Australian Open in 2022, reaches her first final in a 1000 by sweeping away with a score of 6-3 6-2 Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova, winner in this tournament over, among others, world number 1 Iga Swiatek.
