Remco Evenepoel, the bulletin: fractured collarbone and scapula

The medical bulletin also arrives for the Belgian.

Remco Evenepoel suffered a fracture of his right collarbone and right scapula. It was announced by Soudal Quick-Step, the team for which the current world time trial champion rides. The Belgian è was among the cyclists involved in the ruinous and very dangerous collective fall that occurred on a descent during the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country 2024, 35 km from the finish.

"Remco will be in Belgium on Friday, where he will undergo an operation on his collarbone and further examinations at Herentals Hospital" reported Soudal Quick-Step. Evenepoel himself produced an initial commentary on the affair: "Obviously my plans for the upcoming events will change. I hope the long-term ones will not change. I thank the doctors and wish a speedy recovery to all the cyclists involved in the accident. See you soon on the road".

Prominent among those involved in the accident is Jonas Vingegaard, on whom è came the update from Team Visma-Lease a Bike: "He had a bad crash in the fourth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, but fortunately è stable and conscious. Tests at the hospital revealed that he has a broken collarbone and several fractured ribs. He remains in the hospital as a precautionary measure. Thank you for all the messages of support".
