Giro d’Abruzzo seeks its master
Giro d'Abruzzo at the start
With less than 24 hours to go, the start list of the Giro d'Abruzzo Crédit Agricole, a stage race scheduled until April 12, starting in Vasto and finishing in L'Aquila, has been unveiled. There are two big favorites to win the Blue Jersey: Adam Yates and Alexey Lutsenko.
The Briton, winner of the Tour of Oman at the start of the season, makes his return to racing after a crash forced him to retire at the UAE Tour. Yates leads a very competitive UAE Team Emirates that will also see Diego Ulissi, Pavel Sivakov and young Jan Christen at the start. On the other hand, the Astana Qazastan Team will flank the winner of Il Giro di Sicilia 2023 with Colombian Santiago Umba and young Italian Alessandro Romele, winner of a stage at last year's Giro Next Gen. Other men who will aim for the highest positions in the general classification include George Bennett, Matthew Riccitello, Domenico Pozzovivo, Paul Double and Yannis Voisard.
Many stage hunters at the start, starting with fast men such as Niccolò Bonifazio, Max Kanter, Matteo Malucelli and Enrico Zanoncello, continuing with riders suitable for mixed routes among which Marco Brenner, Derek Gee, Valerio Conti, Giovanni Carboni, Pavel Novak and Filippo Fiorelli stand out.
