Fiorentina, Nico Gonzalez’s future hangs in the balance
Nico Gonzalez mayò leave Florence in the summer
.
Ahead of next season Fiorentina may have to reckon with a major farewell, that of Nico Gonzalez. According to reports from 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', in fact, Vincenzo Italiano's departure at the end of the year could be matched by that of the Argentine striker, who arrived in Florence in June 2021.
Gonzalez recently renewed his agreement with the purple club, extending it until 2028, but there are several Premier League clubs on him, Brighton and Brentford above all. Brentford itself had probed the ground in recent months, always receiving a negative response from the lily leadership, but the change of coach could definitely change future prospects.
Before reasoning about the possible replacement and figuring out which names to pursue in the summer as far as the offensive sector is concerned, Fiorentina will evaluate Lucas Beltran’s final season, but for a broader discussion it will be necessary to wait for the conclusion of two tournaments that see the Viola in the running for ultimate success, the Conference League and the Coppa Italia.
Nico Gonzalez is playing his third season in a Fiorentina jersey this year: having arrived in 2021 from Stuttgart in exchange for 27 million euros, the Argentine scored 8 goals in 2021/22 (7 in Serie A, one in the Coppa Italia) and 14 in the following one (6 in Serie A, 2 in the Coppa Italia, 6 in the Conference League). This year'he reached double figures for the season on Feb. 11, scoring one of the goals in Fiorentina's 5-1 infliction on Frosinone.
