Daniil Medvedev in doubt for Rome

After the official forfeit of Carlos Alcaraz at the Internazionali d'Italia, keeping Italian fans in suspense is the physical condition of Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, who both withdrew from the Madrid Masters 1000 due to injury and whose presence at the Foro Italico tournament would still be uncertain. On the issue è the Russian himself spoke at a press conference.

"Right now I think my presence in Rome is in strong doubt. I need to see the pictures and talk to my staff. It would be nice to be able to come back after winning the title last year, but I need to see what injury I have, becauseè I have no idea if it is something very serious or a problem of minor entity" began the Russian tennis player.

"I felt the groin pain only during the last match against Lehecka. I started the match at my best and it's a bit disappointing that it ended this way, becauseè at the beginning I felt very good and to have gone very well on the court" continued the world number four.

"I think injuries are part of the sport. It's normal that the more matches you play, the more you risk getting tired and injured. The transition from one surface to another è very fast. If you play well in Miami, you have four or five days before Monte Carlo to train on clay. I do not know what è the physical problem stemmed from, forè it was very cold and it wasnè t very easy for the body to adapt" added Daniil Medvedev.

The tournament at the Foro Italico kicks off on May 6: tests over the next few days will be decisive in determining the extent of injuries and the possible presence of Sinner and Medvedev at the Internazionali d'Italia . Then, at the end of May, Roland Garros, the most important event on clay, will start.
