Adrian Newey sends a message to Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton
Adrian Newey, who was present in the paddock at the Miami GP, explained his reasons for leaving the Red Bull design role: "F1 wears you down and I have been in it for a long time now. 2021 è was a very challenging year because of the close fight with Mercedes that lasted throughout the championship and, at the same time, because of the research and development process on the RB18, the progenitor of this generation of single-seaters. So sometimes there comes a time when, as Forrest Gump would say, you feel ‘a bit’ tired’. The decision? I have been thinking about it for some time, at least since this’winter".
Newey è then went on to talk about his future: "I find myself in the very fortunate position of not needing to work for a living – these are the words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport – I work because I enjoy it, but I felt this was a good time to take a step back and take some rest, enjoy life and travel a bit’".
"I think I will do some traveling with Mandy, my wife, and the dogs…. Maybe we’ll get an RV or something, go up and down France and enjoy the days".
Then he sent a message to Lewis Hamilton and indirectly to Ferrari:"At some point maybe he will sayò… ‘Okay, è time has come for the next adventure’, although right now I have no plans for the future. Hamilton’s words? È very nice what Lewis said about me, I am flattered. At the moment, simply the plan è to rest a bit’ and see what the future…" brings us.
