Red Bull, Verstappen downsizes Newey: "People don’t know…"

Red Bull tries to downplay the painful farewell of designer Adrian Newey, which officially arrived in recent days. Three-time world champion Max Verstappen on the sidelines of the Miami GP explained that the departure of the Briton is not è the drama that so many insiders have painted: according to the Dutchman, the Austrian team already has all the skills to replace him in the best possible way.

"Adrian, since è at Red Bull, è has been incredibly important to the team’s successes but over time his role è somewhat changed and I think a lot of people don’t understand what he’s doing currently", Verstappen explained. "From the outside his farewell looks really dramatic but if you know what is going on inside the team, it è not what it looks like".

Team principal Christian Horner assured that the team will not be shattered: "Every week you hear these rumors, but Max è still here, and that makes us very happy in the team. He has a wonderful group of engineers around him, he has a fantastic car, the best on the grid. He is driving like never in his career".

Helmut Marko for his part explained Newey&#39s farewell this way: "Newey&#39s farewell è it was a surprise. But when motivation fails, one has only to accept it. For him it è was a kind of exhaustion".
